Alongside leading Palinoia, Arnas Pigulevicius continues to work as a documentary filmmaker - producing and directing independent films that explore personal stories, social themes, and underrepresented voices.
They’re separate from Palinoia’s commercial work, but grounded in the same values: empathy, clarity, and a belief in the power of story.
SILENCE
Deep in Lithuania’s Labanoras Forest, a small community of locals is haunted by the past. To survive the war against Soviet oppression, they had to live in silence. Only now can they bear witness to the horrors that happened there.

Silence
Arnas Pigulevicius’ short documentary Silence is a frighteningly prescient account of Soviet occupancy in a remote forest deep within Lithuania. Pigulevicius converses with locals who recount their family’s experiences of living in solitude whilst housing partisans who sought to oppose the invasion. It’s a very sombre and reflective watch and it captures the lingering traumatic effects of these instances that can still be felt within the community today.

Born in the largest forest of Lithuania, Andrew has spent adulthood away from his home, fighting authorities against deforestation. However, while advising Lithuanian and European parliaments on nature protection, he felt ignored and misunderstood.

THE MARSH GUARDIAN
After 40 years of solitude, Elze finally breaks free from her remote farmstead.
In ‘The Marsh Guardian’, I dive into a personal level with Elze, in order to perceive the world of her despair. The decision to shoot the film from my own perspective, as an intruder or a stranger who tries to interpret the relationship between brother and sister, came from an understanding of Elze’s position towards her brother. The analysis of the inner world of Elze presents the audience with her hidden desire for liberation and the conflict between life and death, which mirrors Elze’s relationship with her cat.
